Take a look at our Annual Report for 2024–2025, highlighting a year of renewed collaboration, community engagement, and growth across the borough.
Under the interim leadership of Reverend James Olanipekun, THIFF strengthened its role as a key platform uniting faith and community organisations to foster understanding and cooperation between Tower Hamlets’ diverse communities. The forum met regularly across the borough — from Aberfeldy Village to Stepney — discussing issues such as community safety, hate crime, family support, and local policy consultations.
A highlight of the year was Inter Faith Week 2024, themed “Communities Living in Harmony.” Hosted at the new Tower Hamlets Town Hall, the event brought together over 70 people from across faiths and public services, with contributions from faith leaders, local historians, and council representatives focusing on shared values and the importance of cohesion in everyday life.
THIFF also played a role in key borough-wide initiatives, including the Tower Hamlets Cornerstone Project—a two-year National Lottery–funded programme to strengthen collaboration between the voluntary sector and public bodies—and supported faith representation in the Council’s new Community Cohesion Plan.
Over the year, 1,000 interfaith calendars were distributed to schools, community groups, and faith institutions, while THIFF’s online presence continued to connect hundreds through its mailing list and social media channels.
Looking ahead, THIFF plans to deepen partnerships through the Tower Hamlets Equalities Hub, and continue facilitating dialogue and collaboration through public forums and events — including the 2025 Inter Faith Week celebrations.
